Key Facts about the Formula 3 Australian Drivers Championship.
· Extreme Sport: Formula 3 is perhaps the most ‘extreme’ of all circuit based motorsports. Fast, furious, cutthroat. Young drivers going head to head racing for their careers in the
fastest racing cars around.
· Sex appeal; Formula 3 cars are the next best thing to Formula One. They might be
slightly smaller, but they have similar appeal with purists and casual fans. Cars with ‘wings and slicks’ are respected as the ultimate in motorsports. It’s ‘cool’ to be an F3 driver.
· Youth; The average age of the drivers is between 18 – 24. The people watching are friends and family of the drivers all within the same age bracket. However the sport also appeals to purist motorsport fans, fans of Formula One, who are traditionally aged
between 35 - 50. This ensures Formula 3 has a vast demographic reach.
· Energy; Zero to sixty in 2.5 seconds. Top speed of 270kph. 3.5G in corners.
Nothing in Australian motorsport is faster.
· Growth; F3 is positioned to be the growth category of Australian Motorsport.
· International: In the last three years, drivers from England, New Zealand, China,
Indonesia, Japan, Brazil and Australia have raced in Australia’s Formula 3. F3 is a worldwide respected brand with the same core values there as here.
· Value: Formula 3 offers massive value for money for competitors
and especially sponsors. |

Founding The Kumho Business Group was founded in 1946 by Mr. In-Chun Park as a small transportation company with two Ford Taxicabs as its only assets. Demand was high and the business grew rapidly, only to be devastated by the Korean War in 1950 to 1953. After the war Mr. Park started over and built what is today Korea's largest intercity bus transportation company, Kwang Ju Highway Lines, and its largest and finest tyre manufacturer, Kumho Tyres.
Diversification over the years, the Kumho Group diversified into many fields, some of which would prove internationally competitive such as Kumho Tyre and Asiana Airlines Inc.
Kumho Tyre Company Limited Since the establishment of Kumho and Company Incorporated, in September 1960. Kumho has contributed greatly to the enhancement of the Korean and the world tyre industry. Despite our short history, Kumho has succeeded in receiving international recognition with our E1 mark of approval by the European Economic Committee, and we have also succeeded in developing 45, 40, 35 and 30 series ZR level tyres for racing and high performance vehicles and, for the first time, tyres for commercial airlines. As a result, in 1992, Kumho entered the ranks of the world's top ten tyre manufacturers.
Kumho has succeeded in the development of superior tyres for all vehicles including high performance vehicles, passenger vehicles, sports utility vehicles, recreational vehicles, light trucks, heavy truck and buses, industrial vehicles, agricultural vehicles, mining vehicles, Construction vehicles and aircraft.
Kumho Industrial Company Limited, produces over 36,000,000 tyres annually in our two manufacturing factories, the Kwang Ju factory (built 1974) and the Koksung factory (built 1989). With our QS9000, ISO9001, ISO9002, Boeing D1-9000 BQS, BS7750 and ISO14001 certification, both our factories can ensure and guarantee quality control, plus with our massive research and development programme comprising of over 600 research personnel and over 300 testing machines at proving grounds in South Korea, Japan, Europe and South America, Kumho can provide and lead the world with the latest in tyre technology, safety and performance.
In Australia Kumho markets an extensive range of tyres for cars, 4WD’s, light commercials, trucks and buses.
We operate out of five state locations with the ability to distribute tyres to retailers everywhere in Australia.

Meguiar’s was founded in 1901 as a simple furniture polish laboratory and plant in the garage of founder Frank Maguiar, Jr. The company now spans four generations of family stewardship and follows its founder’s dictate of never selling a product until it was the very best of its kind on the market.
In Australia, Meguiar’s is distributed by MotorActive Distribution, a wholly Australian owned company with representatives situated in a number of states across the country. MotorActive’s extensive knowledge of paintwork optimisation enables them to offer an unbeatable combination of the best car care products and technical support around.
“Meguiar’s are thrilled to establish the ‘Meguiar’s Best Presented Award’ with Formula 3 in 2009,” said MotorActive General Manager Andrew Spira. “This is a great way of extending our passion for vehicle appearance into the motor racing arena and we look forward to encouraging team rivalry on the shine as well as the finish line.”
Astuti Motorsport boss Sam Astuti said that the new incentive would further spur his team on to making themselves the best looking operation in pit lane.
“Astuti Motorsport has always made sure that we are well presented, so to have Meguiar’s join the championship for 2009 is fantastic news,” he said. “We are very confident this year that in Mathew Sofi we have an outright contender for the Formula 3 Australian Drivers Championship, but now we are also confident that our plans for this year will see us be a contender for the Meguiar’s Best Presented Award at round one as well.
“My crew will be very keen to get hold of some of that fantastic Meguiar’s product to clean the cars between sessions and make them shine again!” |
