R-Tek Motorsport was formed with the basis of several Australian F2 and F3
championships under its belt. With the experienced Ian Richards under the helm, the core group of people at R-Tek are made up of people that won both the 2002 and 2004 championships and have since gone on to win many National class races since forming R-Tek itself.
Ian Richards is the only person to win a major Australian Open Wheel championship in a car self-constructed, and is one of the most experienced engineers around. R-Tek has strong ties to Europe and is also the
Australian authorised rebuilder for Spiess Engines.
