With a rumoured wildcard into the V8 Supercars later in 2017, success just keeps coming for current Adelaide Supercars Super2 Dunlop Series driver Todd Hazelwood who is adamant that his time in Australian Formula 3 was vital to his development as a top flight race driver.

The 21 year old who hails from Adelaide finished 3rd in the 2016 Supercars Dunlop Series, was winner of the 2016 Supercars Privateers Cup, winner of the 2014 V8 Supercars Mike Kable Young Gun Award, and was a Formula 3 race/round winner in 2013.

Now he has commenced 2017 in stellar racing form with the Matt Stone Racing Team supported by Bigmate by achieving second overall in the first round of the Super2 Dunlop Supercars Series and taking his maiden V8 win at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide.

‘Formula 3 is a great stepping stone as it is a proper racing car’, says Hazelwood.

‘Formula 3 gives you the opportunity to develop as a driver. You have to understand the aero, braking, throttle response and what you learn and develop in F3 you can take to any category whether it be Supercars as the top class in Australia, or faster cars in Europe

It was a great move for me to compete in F3, and it was enjoyable, but the main thing is there was no better category to move me forward as a driver’.

Todd Hazelwood says it all. Australian Formula 3, the place to be to develop as a serious race car driver.
