Jones Motorsport’s Harri Jones has won his first round of the Australian Formula 3 Premier Series, Jones won all three races and in doing so has taken the lead in the series.

Jones took his second All Properties Group Pole Position award for the season narrowly from R-Tek Motorsports driver John Magro who returned to the team again this year, McDonalds Gilmour Racing’s driver Cameron Shields was third with Ross McAlpine 4th. National Class leader Roman Krumins was missing for the round racing Prototypes over in Europe, that left Wilson Team Racing’s Shane Wilson to take his first class pole of the year after R-Tek Motorsport’s Andrew Roberts session ended in the wall.

Race 1 saw Jones lead from lights to flag with Shields jumping Magro who had a slipping clutch to take 2nd. Magro still crossed the line 3rd with McAlpine 4th. National Class saw Wilson spin on the opening lap handing the lead to Roberts would still made it on track after quick repair from the R-Tek squad, Roberts was no match though in the older ’04 model with Wilson catching and passing the South Aussie 2 laps from the end.
Race 2 and it was Jones again from lights to flag however this time Magro was able to get the best of Shields passing him to take second. McAlpine had a technical issue and retired. Wilson again had the ’07 running well taking out the National Class ahead of Roberts.

Race 3 saw a gun start from Magro on the 2nd row being squeezed by Shields going into turn one and then attacking Jones into turn 2. Jones fought off that challenge and managed to hold off Magro for the remaining laps with Shields further back in 3rd. Wilson made it a clean sweep of the National Class taking the round win and moving to second ahead of Roberts who has moved up to third.

Jones now leads the series by 2 points ahead of Shields with 2 rounds remaining.
The penultimate round is at Wakefield Park on September 8th and 9th
