Australian Red Bull Junior Driver Jack Doohan has had a successful test with 2018 Champions Jones Motorsport in preparation for his return to Europe.

The son of Australian 500cc Motorcycle Champion Mick, Doohan has been spending some rare time back home in Queensland whilst awaiting news of the 2020 FIA Formula 3 start date postponed amid the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic.

With the assistance of Jones Motorsports engineer, Bruce Jenkins, Doohan completed 230 kilometres of the 3.1km Queensland Raceway circuit. “Jack came to grips with the car and track quickly as would be expected of a driver of his calibre.” Jones Motorsport owner Peter Jones said.

Doohan is returning to Europe next week for final preparations for the FIA Formula 3 Championship commencing on July 3rd to 5th at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, where he will line up alongside the 2017 Australian Formula 3 Champion Calan Williams plus fellow Australians Oscar Piastri and Alex Peroni. The FIA Formula 3 Championship will be running as a support category to the Formula 1 World Championship.

Announcements on the commencement of the 2020 Australian Formula 3 Championship are expected soon, organisers are hoping for at least 4 rounds potentially going through to December.
