R-Tek Motorsportís Mitch Neilson has taken his first Australian Formula 3 race win on debut after and lightening start, jumping from 4th to 1st in the opening two turns. Pole sitter Tim Macrow Racingís Ben Taylor briefly took the lead on the 3rd lap before Neilson re-took the lead which he would hold until the end.

Positions were further shuffled on the opening lap when 99 Motorsportís Ryan Astley stalled from the front row on the grid dropping to the rear of the field whilst Ruff Racingís Gerrit Ruff jumped from 6th on the grid to run 3rd at the end of lap 1. Max De Meyrick from R-Tek Motorsport pitted at the end of lap 2 from 4th with an electrical issue, re-joining just in front of the leaders.

Ruff and Gilmour Racingís Roman Krumins ran close in 3rd and 4th which became 2nd and 3rd, after a mistake from Taylor on the last lap pushing hard for the win dropped him back down the field to 4th. Astley recovered to 5th ahead of R-Tekís Ray-Yu Wang and McAlpine Motorsportís Ross McAlpine with De Meyrick, who had the pace of the front runners rounding out the field.
